While visiting an Cheathrú Rua Minister of State McGinley also announced that he has approved a grant of €256,000 for Comharchumann Mhic Dara to enable them to purchase a building which will be refurbished as a community hall/Irish summer college and office accommodation for the Comharchumann itself. "This will help enable the Comharchumann to purchase this property that is currently not in use, and make it available as a public facility and Irish college accommodation" said the Minister of State. The Minister stressed the importance of providing this kind of support in Gaeltacht areas under the 20 Year Strategy for the Irish Language so as to enable these communities to address the challenges of the language planning process. "This is Irish language infrastructure" he said "which will support the Comharchumann – in conjunction with the community of An Cheathrú Rua - and will be instrumental in strengthening Irish as the community language of the area."
