A new MABS Sub-office was opened by the Minister for Social Protection, Joan Burton T.D. at Oifig Forbartha, An Ceathrú Rua at 2.30p.m. on Friday last, 28th September. The Minister was warmly welcomed by Ann Fergus, Chair of South Galway Mabs and Tony McQuinn, CEO of the Citzens Information Board. A large attendance heard the Minister praise the service and its further reach into the Connemara community from Bearna to Clifden and beyond. The Minister also supported the facility being available in both English and Irish for those who avail of it.
South Galway Money Advice and Budgeting Service provides a free, independent and confidential money advice and budgeting service for people with debt and money management problems.
One to one consultation is provided at the new office which is open Monday to Friday from 9.30a.m. to 5.00p.m. Appointments can be arranged by contacting the service at 0761 07 2820 or by email at Connemara@mabs.ie You may also contact our MABS National Helpline at 0761 07 2000 Monday to Friday 9am-8pm or log on to www.mabs.ie.
The service is staffed by a professional Money Advisor who offers a bilingual service to help or support people to deal with their debts, to prepare a budget, examine their income, look at their entitlements, contact creditors on their behalf if necessary, and decide the best way to meet and make repayments where possible.
The Money Advice and Budgeting Service is funded and supported by the Citizens Information Board.
